The Proud Boys are the 21st Century’s Ku Klux Klan

It has already been stated and shown that the Proud Boys work hand-in-hand with law enforcement; however, in light of the recent coup d’état, there is no longer any doubt in anyone’s mind of the validity of this. Thus, I want to showcase the similarities between today’s Proud Boys and the Ku Klux Klan of the 1910s.

Both were/are intertwined with the government:

Klan officeholders in particularly prominent and powerful positions included Governors Edward Jackson of Indiana and Clifford Walker of Georgia, as well as U.S. Senators Earle Mayfield of Texas and Rice Means of Colorado. -Joshua Rothman (12/04/2016), The Atlantic

Wilson was also a segregationist who wrote a history textbook praising the Confederacy and, in particular, the Ku Klux Klan. As president, he rolled back hard-fought economic progress for Black Americans, overseeing the segregation of multiple agencies of the federal government. -Becky Little (07/14/2020), History

The former top aide to Lauren Boebert, a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Colorado on a meteoric rise within President Donald Trump's political sphere, hosted a self-proclaimed member of the Proud Boys on a Facebook video last year in which she described the group as "pro everything that makes America great." -Jeffrey Cook (10/15/2020), ABC News

President Trump hasn’t expressly said it, but it has been ardently displayed, members of the Proud Boys are followers of his and do work to benefit him. His statement to them—and other White supremacist groups—to “Stand back and stand by” was taken as a directive by him. Furthermore, he doubled down on it when he was allowed to clear the air about the response many White extremist groups gave to his statement; he did so by evading the topic and discussing something else.

In short, what we’re witnessing is the Proud Boys replacing the Ku Klux Klan as the prominent White supremacist hate group in society; history is repeating itself.

Lastly, I’m going to say something that gets left out of history books. To begin, law enforcement being infiltrated by White supremacist organizations is nothing new. This has always occurred. Moreover, FBA mistrusting law enforcement is common too. Thus, in times like now, where racial tensions are at the apex, FBA didn’t go to law enforcement to administer justice. In the 1910s, during the Klan’s heyday, FBA people understood that contacting the police could easily result in their own result for a false charge, or reaching out to the police could even cause the FBA person’s own lynching. Thus, our own ancestors utilized their 2nd amendment rights far more frequently. The trajectory of the times is trending toward this again. If this occurs, then history will repeat itself in this aspect as well.
