Thinkstock New research is out that could help explain why African Americans are often undertreated for pain, as various studies have shown. It comes from the University of Virginia , and attributes this discrepancy to a startling bias: Some medical professionals believe there are biological differences between whites and blacks that direct their courses of treatment. “A substantial number of white laypeople and medical students and residents hold false beliefs about biological differences between blacks and whites, and demonstrates that these beliefs predict racial bias in pain perception and treatment recommendation accuracy,” the research notes. According to the school , the survey, led by Kelly M. Hoffman, a sixth-year doctoral candidate (All But Dissertation) in the social psychology program at the University of Virginia, asked 222 white medical students and residents to rate on a scale of zero to 10 the pain levels they would associate with two mock medical cases—a kidne

Back then, OJ was on top of his game, and a lot of White supremacists were very dismayed that OJ was married to a White woman, along with all of the endorsement deals that he had, so White supremacists decided to eliminate his wife and make OJ look like the perpetrator. However, even after OJ was found “not guilty”—the media continued to harass him, ultimately locking him up for stealing his own stuff back. Making OJ a product of the state would, in turn, turns over all of his assets--thus funneling his money back to the dominant society.  Similarly, this happened to Bill Cosby through his son, Ennis. Ennis was killed during a roadside robbery while carrying thousands of dollars in--what the news dubbed--a botched robbery attempt. Africans in America are, in large, a nation of cowards. I say this because I've seen no other people as passive and docile in the face of White supremacy. Decades ago, there was no choice but to stand and fight because we had a common struggle. America made no qualms about us being second-class and lesser than. Therefore, we created our own communities, organizations, churches, and such--as we were not welcomed in these of the dominant society of America's communities. Fast forward past the Civil Rights Era, the fires of passion have been drenched by the waters of trinkets and so-called rights. Third eyes have been blinded by smokescreens, and outcries have been silenced by pacifiers. What are these things? Ask the average African American what success is and they'll tell you that a college degree, a good job, nice car, and house in the suburbs are success. I ran across this on a Facebook page and thought it was worth posting here as a lesson in what black adults, parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and older cousins should NEVER do. I wrote this on the back of his receipt and asked the cashier to hand it to him with his food. My son asked me why I paid for his food if he was mean, I explained that being nice to nice people is easy, you have to be nice to mean people, that’s the hardest thing to do.
